Do you wish someone would take property maintenance off your shoulders?

Who doesn’t?

If you own property, you know the devil is in the details. Like when a student renter left for the summer, and because of a faulty seal on the toilet, it was left running. By the time the out-of-town owner knew what was happening she had a $900 water bill to pay.

What business wants to watch profits eaten up by an unexpected maintenance crisis?  Or watch the pipes spring a leak over a restaurant booth or a bank lobby full of customers? Do you lose sleep over whether the maintenance on your property is as it should be? Or knowing someone might be up on a ladder trying to fix a problem themselves?  Is your own property’s upkeep always at the back of your mind?

With decades of building and remodeling experience, we’ve seen it and heard it, and we sympathize.

But more than sympathize, we decided to do something about it.  Maintenance Matters is the company you can turn to to never worry about those things again. Residential maintenance and commercial property maintenance…  We do it all.

This takes proactive, persistent professionals who care about your property’s condition as much as you do. Whatever your needs, we have the team, the technicians and the resources to keep your property in top shape.

And we’ll customize an optimal plan for your business or home, keeping meticulous maintenance records with each visit.

Our goal? To be there before the unexpected happens.

Peter Scholl

I am Peter Sholl, owner of Maintenance Matters and Scholl Construction Company located in Crystal Lake. As you know, to keep your properties looking their best, they need to be maintained. Until now, nobody’s been looking after them except you. We want to take the maintenance out of your life. Let me introduce you to some of my team that help you maintain your properties.

Kasey Tumilty

Pete walked in the office and said, I have an idea, and that’s kind of where it all started.

Peter Scholl

I started to Scholl Construction 20 years ago, and many of the buildings and homes that we work in, as we were working there, we found problems that could have been easily prevented, like changing filters, caulking, exteriors, just general maintenance items, if done properly would prevent the need to do such an extensive remodel or rebuild. So, I wanted to help people take care of their buildings and their homes.

Kasey Tumilty

I am involved throughout the entire process. If you call the office, it’s most likely going to be me picking up the phone to speak with you about your needs or what your maintenance items are that you need help with. I’ll walk through your building. If you’re a commercial customer, we’ll walk through your commercial space and I’ll talk to you about what different maintenance items you need. It’s very customized as to what your needs are, so if you want us to come to your building once a month, once a week, once a day, we’re happy to do that for you. We have a good mix of commercial and residential customers. For commercial, most of our customers are on regular maintenance plans and residential customers are more one-off projects that we’ll help them with.

When we receive a request or we have a customer that’s on a routine maintenance, I will go to the property, determine if there’s any maintenance that needs to be done, or figure a solution to a problem that they’re having inside the building. I will go review the request. It could be a small change in the filter or getting a new countertop. Any one of those we can handle and schedule it and get the work done.

We strive to have constant communication with the customer. We have a client portal.

Kasey Tumilty

We have a nice customer portal. It allows us to communicate with the customers, and if you have more than one person on your team that needs to communicate with your Maintenance Matters team, we’re able to add in as many employees or decision makers as necessary. We’ll be able to communicate through the portal. We’ll be able to share files back and forth, proposals for work being done, sign off on different paperwork. We’ll be able to share pictures back and forth, and you’re able to put in work requests.

Jeanne Schroeder

We definitely work together as a team to try to make the process as seamless as possible.

Maintenance Matters is unique. There are some other services that are similar in the area, but those are mostly one-off projects that are completed. Maintenance Matters is the only one that I have heard of that has continued regularly scheduled visits and services. So that really creates that relationship with the customer and with your maintenance team that is needed to get the job done right.
